MACON COUNTY – The Macon County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene of a traffic crash between a passenger car and an ATV late Monday afternoon.

Deputies received a call about the crash at 3:50 PM on Monday, April 11. They then reported to the intersection of Oakley Road and Sheet Roads in Oakley Township. Two teenage males were found with severe injuries upon authorities’ arrival at the crash scene.

The initial investigation indicates two teens were riding an ATV southbound on Oakley Road, while a 2002 Ford Taurus was also traveling southbound in the area.

Macon County authorities say the Taurus was preparing to pass the ATV when the ATV turned into the path of the vehicle at the intersection. Upon colliding, both rides of the ATV were thrown from it. Both riders were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, and authorities say their status and identity are unknown at this time.

The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old from Mt. Zion, was not injured in the crash.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is on scene and continues to investigate this crash. Oakley Road remains closed at the intersection and will remain closed for an unknown amount of time.
