CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- High pressure setting up shop just to our north will bring plenty of sunshine to central Illinois for the rest of the week.
Temperatures will still be a bit below average Tuesday as we only climb into the mid 50s. By Wednesday, temperatures are back in the low 60s, closer to average. Eventually by the weekend, the sunshine and light southerly winds help us reach the 70s.
StormCenter17 Meteorologist Adam Del Rosso credits an "Omega block" for the quiet forecast. He says the jet stream will take the shape of the Greek letter Omega with a ridge over the Midwest. That ridge of high pressure translates to sunshine and increasing temperatures.
