Two Central Illinois historic sites are ranked among the “most endangered’ in Illinois, according to the organization Landmarks Illinois.
The historic preservation organization announced its 2016 list of Most Endangered landmarks Wednesday, and included Champaign’s Central High School and Neighborhood as well as Springfield’s YWCA Building.
The organization pointed to various plans to replace or expand Central High School which would raze the 80-year-old school building or several neighboring houses or businesses.
They also pointed to current discussions in Springfield about whether to reuse or demolish the damaged YWCA building.
