Champaign Police investigate Shots Fired near Hedge Road

CHAMPAIGN – Champaign Police Officers are on scene investigating after numerous reports came in of shots fired in the 1600 block of Hedge Road on Wednesday evening.

Authorities arrived at around 5:42 PM on April 13 to find no suspects or victims at the scene. While officers were investigating, they received word that a gunshot victim had arrived at a local hospital. They also recovered a significant number of shell casings from the area.

Champaign Police continue to canvass the area for more signs of damage. Investigators are processing evidence and interview potential witnesses as well.

No arrests had been made at the time of the Department’s release at 7:34 PM.
