First 70s stretch of the year on the way

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- As high pressure continues to bring plenty of sunshine to central Illinois, mild air will be working into town as we head into the weekend.

High temperatures Thursday climb into the upper 60s, the first time above average in the last 10 days, since April 3.

By Friday, numbers are expected to reach the 70s and stay there through the weekend and into early next week. This would make it the first stretch of 70-degree weather in central Illinois this year. The last time we were consistently above 70 degrees was from Oct. 19-23, 2015.
