DECATUR - The Decatur Fire Department says one house was heavily damaged by fire in an incident on April 13.

Fire officials say crews were dispatched to the 1900 block of North 31st Street at about 5:34 p.m. for a report of a house fire.  Firefighters arrived at the scene at about 5:39 p.m., and the fire was brought under control just after 7:00 p.m.

Officials say the fire was located in the kitchen, with smoke damage occurring throughout the rest of the house.  Damage is estimated to be around $18,000 to property, and $2,000 to the home's contents.

Two adults and one child were relocated, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.  No injuries or fatalities were reported, and the origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation.
