Women Learn How to Build Houses

Posted: Updated:

Champaign- Power tools...roofing shingles....framing....it sounds like work for a man.

The Habitat for Humanity and Lowe's Women Build Clinic teaches women construction skills.

The free 2 hour workshop was attended by about 100 women where they learned how to safely use power tools, frame walls and roofs, attach siding and roof shingles.

The workshop is taught by Lowe's staff and Habitat for Humanity construction crew members.

Some of the women attending the workshop, end up building their own home through Habitat for Humanity.

The next Women Build Project will take place on May 7.

More information about the upcoming project  can be found at www.cuhabitat.org.
