Shakespeare Corrected

DECATUR – The women at the Decatur Correctional Facility performed one of William Shakespeare's classics: Much Ado About Nothing.

Working for 4 months on the performance, the inmates showed their skills to family and friends.

With the help of a Millikin Alum and Associate Professor of Theater, the inmates were able to dissect the text of Shakespeare and apply to their everyday lives.

One woman, who has been incarcerated for 8 years, explains why being a part of the production is so important.

Teresa Wright says, "We just make it work. We humble ourselves when we have to. We understand when each other are having bad days. Every day is not a good day in here. Something might happen. We show compassion, we show kindness, we just come together as one for the sake of the play and the sake of the group."
