FORSYTH – The Macon County Sheriff’s Office reports a 91-year-old Maroa woman has died from injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Scott Flannery, with the Sheriff’s Department, says the crash happened at 10:38 AM on Saturday, April 16. She was at the intersection of US Route 51 and Ruehl Street in Forsyth, when she was unable to gauge the flow of traffic, went to make a turn and was hit by another car.

91-year-old Helma Koslofski was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital and later transferred to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Flannery says Koslofski died from her injuries at 3:45 AM Sunday morning.

Another driver was involved in the crash, but authorities say the 58-year-old Decatur woman driving the other vehicle was not injured.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating this accident.
