Decatur City Council to consider public art displays

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - The Decatur City Council is expected to consider a proposal that would see an increase in municipal public art displays throughout the city during a scheduled meeting on April 18.

City officials say public art displays can make art more accessible to people who might not be able to experience it otherwise, and that the displays could attract visitors and encourage growth.  The displays would not be unlike the downtown streetscape project.  Officials would work with the Decatur Area Arts Council and local artist community to generate public support and interest.

City Council members could also discuss potential road repairs, which could be funded by the motor fuel tax, during this meeting.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
