Measure Would Eliminate Lt. Gov's Office

Springfield - State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) will advance Senate Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 29 today, which would eliminate the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Eliminating the office of the Lt. Governor would save the state about $1.6 million a year.

Getting rid of the office of Lt. Governor has been discussed for many years but has never been approved.

Voters would get a say in this issue if it makes it through the legislature.
