Illinois-SLU Series Sets Non-Conference Attendance Records

CHAMPAIGN -- The Fighting Illini baseball program set a pair of regular season attendance records over the weekend.

Illinois' three-game series against St. Louis University, which Illinois swept, was the most well-attended non-conference series in the history of Illinois Field.

A total of 4,529 fans showed up throughout the series, a non-conference record, and the 10th most overall.

Saturday's game, which coincided with the football team's open practice across the street, drew 2,045 fans. The only single-games that drew more were either conference matchups, or happened during Illinois 2015 postseason run.  You can see how the weekend compared to Illinois' other highly-attended series/games here.

The weekend sweep pushed Illinois (17-16) over the .500 mark for the first time since March 12. The men play Eastern Illinois Tuesday at 6pm in Mattoon.
