Hotline Available For Illinois Veterans

Springfield – The Illinois Warrior Assistance Program is launching a campaign to help veterans and their families with emotional, medical, or legal challenges resulting from their service in the military.

The 530 by 5/30 campaign seeks to help 530 veterans by May 30th.  A special hotline has been set up at 1-866-554-IWAP (4927).  Veterans or their caregivers can also get help at www.IllinoisWarrior.com.

Eligible veterans can access these services:

  • Counseling Services
  • Neuropsychological testing for mild traumatic brain injury
  • Post-traumatic stress self-assessment
  • Legal and financial consultation
  • Online financial & legal tools
  • Help for those who may be facing emotional challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, coping with daily emotions, addiction and substance abuse.

“There are veterans right now who are still fighting battles long after their military service but they don’t know where to turn,” Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director Erica Jefferies told WAND’s Doug Wolfe at the Illinois State Capitol.

Jefferies is a West Point graduate.
