23-year-old Brocton woman dies in Edgar Co. Crash

EDGAR COUNTY – State troopers responded to a crash in rural Edgar County that resulted in one woman being declared dead at the scene.

The crash took place at 3:54 PM on Wednesday, April 20. According to the crash investigation, a woman was driving her Buick in Edgar County and had stopped at the intersection of Edgar County 600 East and Route 49. At the same time, a truck tractor was approaching the intersection, traveling westbound.

As this was happening, a school bus traveling eastbound on Route 133 turned north onto 600 East. The driver of the Buick proceeded to turn east onto Route 133, directly into the path of the truck tractor.

The 23-year-old woman from Brocton who was driving the Buick died at the scene of the crash, but a 31-year-old man and 2-year-old child, also of Brocton, were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The woman had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

There is no word yet regarding to what extent the man and child were injured.

No charges have been issued, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
