UIS' Take Back the Night to be held April 22

SPRINGFIELD - The University of Illinois - Springfield's Women's Center and Residence Life are teaming up to host the ninth annual "Take Back the Night" march and rally on April 22.

Officials say Take Back the Night will kick off at 8:30 p.m. with a brief ceremony near the colonnade on the university's main quad.  This year's event coincides with Earth Day, and the "Me-We" theme will include protests against violence committed against the planet, biosphere, and all creatures.

Additionally, this year's event will include sexual assault survivors' stories, poetry, and a healing observance.  T-shirts will also be distributed.

Take Back the Night is an annual event that protests sexual assault and all forms of violence against women.  For more information, click here.
