Judge Dismisses Case Against Man In Illinois Killing

SYCAMORE-----A prosecutor said a 76-year-old man could not have killed a 7-year-old Illinois girl.

And Friday morning, a judge agreed with that assessment. DeKalb County Circuit Court Associate Judge William Brady accepted a motion to dismiss the case of Jack McCullough, and avoid a retrial.

McCullough was sentenced to life in prison in 2012 for the killing of Maria Ridulph in Sycamore back in 1957. But the successor to the state's attorney who prosecuted the case says a review found discrepancies in the investigation and prosecution.

The prosecutor determined that McCullough's alibi was a solid one. Judge Brady vacated the conviction, and ordered McCullough to be released.
