DECATUR - In an update to a story WAND has been following this week, the Decatur Public School District has released a statement on DPS Superintendent Lisa Taylor's departure.

In the news release, Board of Education President Sherri Perkins says, "The Board is appreciative of Superintendent Taylor's contributions in her role as the district's leader for the last two years," and that the board is "supportive of the development of our students in our community and want to continue moving the district forward."

Lisa Taylor confirmed her departure with WAND News on Thursday.  She has accepted a position with Heyworth Public Schools.  Taylor's resignation will be effective July 29, 2016.

In the release, Taylor says, "I leave the district knowing we have made great progress in our efforts to improve the perception of DPS and encourage the continuation of partnerships with educators, parents, and the community to improve student outcomes."
