More Active Weather Expected for Next Week

Posted: Updated:

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- After a beautiful weekend across central Illinois, Meteorologist Kevin Chierek says the weather will be getting a little more active as we enter a new week. A frontal boundary will be approaching the area late Monday evening bringing with it the chance for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms.

Chierek says the latest model outputs from the Storm Prediction Center continue to suggest severe thunderstorms possible on Wednesday. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes will all be possible, especially for areas to the west and south. The key to the forecast will be where an area of Low pressure will set up. Any deviation to the track of that Low could significantly change the forecast, especially since we’re still a few days out. Our team of weather experts at WAND will continue to keep a close eye on that system.
