CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- After a spectacular, sunny weekend, a cold front will bring a few showers and storms to central Illinois Monday evening.
According to StormCenter17 Meteorologist Adam Del Rosso, one or two of the storms could reach severe limits early with wind and hail being the main concern. However, he says the timing of the storms, mainly after sundown, will help to limit that threat.
The Storm Prediction Center has most of northern Illinois under a "slight risk" for severe storms. In this area, the storms will have more energy to work with before pushing southward into more stable air.
By Tuesday morning, Del Rosso says most of the rain will be out of the WAND viewing area, before a better chance for scattered strong or severe storms arrives Wednesday.
