The Illini men's golf and softball teams will have bragging rights around campus for the next 51 weeks after Charlie Danielson and Allie Bauch won the Big Ten Conference's Medal of Honor on Monday night at the Fighting Illini All-Sports Celebration.

The honor is given to one male athlete and one female athlete from each school in the Big Ten and is based on academic and athletic performance.

Danielson was one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award after leading the Illini golf team with a 70.7 stroke average. He won two tournaments this season and was the runner-up at the Big Ten Championships. In 2015 he was named second team PING All-America.

The Osceola, Wis. native is a management major and was named Academic All-Big Ten Conference.

Bauch, a second baseman from Schaumburg, Ill., leads the Illini with a .327 batting average and 38 runs scored. The senior was named first-team All-Big Ten in 2015 after leading the Illini in 10 offensive statistical categories, while also taking home Academic All-America honors as a mathematics major.
