Macon County Sheriff's Office welcomes new member of K-9 Unit

DECATUR - The Macon County Sheriff's Office welcomed a new member into its K-9 Unit earlier this month.

Authorities say Chance, an 18-month-old, took part in an eight-week training program, and graduated on April 22.  It is interesting to note that the majority of dogs in the K-9 Unit are German Shepherds, while Chance is a Labrador Retriever.  Chance's first day on the job was April 24.

Chance is currently partnered with Macon County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Patient.  Deputy Patient told WAND that the opportunity to work with Chance "is a learning experience for both of us (Patient and Chance)."  Deputy Patient completed the eight-week training course alongside Chance, and will be working with Chance for the foreseeable future.
