U of I Non Tenured Staff Stage "Work-in"

Posted:

Champaign- Last week, non tenured faculty members went on strike for two days, now the group has moved to a "work-in."  The goal was to bring awareness to how much they do at the school and the impact they have.

The Union Members only get one year contracts and they want a longer term.  They've been working on negotiating a contract since late 2014.

The are currently taking the next step in that strike, by holding a two day work in on Tuesday and Wednesday.  They'll grade papers, do research and even hold office hours.

There is a bargaining session set for Wednesday April 7th.  The non-tenured workers union hope the University of Illinois Administration sees how much they do.
