Large Hail and Flooding in Paris Illinois

Paris- A storm developed across southern Edgar County around 3:14 PM Tuesday afternoon. The storm quickly intensified with the National Weather Service issuing a severe thunderstorm warning at 3:36 PM. The warning remained in effect until 5 PM as the storm continues to dump heavy rain and hail. 

At 3:52 PM 1 3/4" (golf ball size) hail was reported in the city of Paris. The storms remained nearly stationary in central and eastern Edgar County. 

Chief Meteorologist JC Fultz said Doppler radar estimates show 3.5" to nearly 5" of rain falling in and around the Paris area. A Flash Flood Warning was issued by the National Weather Service at 4:20 PM as numerous streets and roads were flooded, plus some covered by hail.
