Dense Breast Notifications Difficult to Understand

BOSTON - In a new study led by researchers at Boston University School of Medicine, it was found breast density reports are often hard for the patient to understand. Laws in 24 states require women be notified of their breast density, after a mammogram.
Only 3 states had notifications that were easy to read and many of the most difficult were in states with the lowest literacy rates.
Researchers say women can't make informed decisions about their health, if they don't understand the results.
Three of theses 24 states have an 8th grade reading level or lower.
