SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police will honor law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2015 during the annual Illinois Peace Officers Memorial Service on May 5.

Officials say the ceremony will be held at the Illinois Peace Officer Memorial sculpture on the Illinois State Capitol grounds at 11:00 a.m.  Deputy Sheriff Craig Whisenand and Deputy Sheriff Dwight Maness were killed in the line of duty in 2015, and will be honored during the ceremony.  Other officers who were confirmed to have died in the line of duty in the past but had not been included in the memorial will also be recognized.

Illinois FOP State Lodge President Chris Southwood says the Illinois Peace Officers Memorial Service "honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities."
