EFFINGHAM COUNTY - Illinois State Police say one person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on I-57 in Effingham County Tuesday afternoon.

ISP officials say the crash happened at about 4:50 p.m. on I-57 northbound near mile post 161.5.  According to the preliminary investigation, troopers say a 2014 Ford Explorer and a truck-tractor were traveling north on I-57 in heavy rain when the truck-tractor struck the rear of the Ford Explorer.  The Ford then traveled to the right and struck a concrete barrier.

Authorities say a passenger in the Ford Explorer was taken to a local hospital following the crash.  This crash is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
