Springfield - It's an award that only about 7% of all hospitals, nationwide, are lucky enough to receive.

However, for Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, for a third time, the hospital was awarded a the Magnet Recognition for Excellence in Nursing Services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The hospital says that only about 3% of the hospitals nationwide received the award a third time.
The hospital's chief nursing officer says the award took a team effort and reflects the great work being done.

"We're very excited for the nursing staff and most importantly we're excited that this is a reflection of the great care that our nurses and all of the professional colleagues give our patients and their families everyday," said chief nursing officer Marsha Prater.

The hospital received it's other two magnet recognitions in 2006 and 2011.

The ANCC developed the Magnet Recognition Program in 1990 to recognize hospitals that provide the best nursing care and support professional nursing practice.
