Ashley Gibson's Family is Mourning her Death

Posted: Updated:

Champaign- Ashley Gibson's family is trying to make sense of what has happened over the past the week.

It has been a terrible nightmare since Ranae Gibson first reported her 24-year old daughter missing on April 17.  A nightmare that got all too real when Ashley's body was found at Clinton Lake on April 24.

Ranae Gibson is trying to be strong for Ashley's two children, aged 8 and 3. But the reality that her daughter is gone is hard for her to bear.

"Words can't even explain how I feel right now." She said through tears.

Ashley came from a large, loving family, and it is this large family that is helping each other cope with the brutal way Ashley was taken.

The family believes the men who did this to Ashley, was someone they know, although Champaign Police do not have anyone in custody for the crime.

There will be a candle light vigil held for Ashley on April 29 at 6:00 PM at the Church of Living God located at 1109 S. 4th street in Champaign.

Her memorial service will be held on May 2, at noon at the Church of Living God.
