Non-Tenure Track Faculty Coalition on Strike

Posted: Updated:

Champaign- After failing to reach an an agreement with the university, the Non-Tenure Track Faculty Coalition has decided to strike.

The union overwhelmingly voted for a five-day strike after spending over 10 hours negotiating with the University of Illinois administration, with no solution reached.

The main point of contention are provisions on multi-year contracts, and appointments and reappointments.

"The university seems resolute in not implementing the same language that exists in the University of Illinois Chicago contract which we are presenting in ours. I'm not sure why. Non-Tenure Track Faculty Coalition President Shawn Gilmore said.

The next mediation meeting is scheduled for April 29 at 8 AM.
