Minority Teen Birth Rate

ATLANTA – Birth rates among Hispanic and black teens have dropped by almost half since 2006, but there are still significant socioeconomic and racial gaps.  The CDC found birth rates are still twice as high for minority teens and in some states are triple that of white teens. But higher unemployment and lower education were also risk factors for teen births, regardless of race. Counties with higher teen birth rates were clustered in southern and southwestern states.
