SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department has announced one person has been arrested in connection with an early-morning armed robbery that took place on April 29.

Springfield police say officers were dispatched to the Qik-N-EZ location in the 400 block of North Grand East at about 3:26 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery.  Upon arriving, officers learned that a white male had approached clerks, showed a handgun, and demanded money.  The suspect left the scene on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

Springfield police also say officers used a canine unit to track the suspect to a building north of the Qik-N-EZ.  Officers say they then followed tire tracks onto 4th Street, where they eventually found three individuals in a vehicle.  Authorities say one of the vehicle's occupants was later identified as being the suspect in the robbery.  Officers add that a toy gun was located which police believe was used in the robbery.

The Springfield Police Department says the suspect was identified as Cody Desilva, 21.  Desilva faces a preliminary charge of armed robbery.  The other two people found in the car were interviewed and later released.  This incident is still under investigation.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
