CHICAGO -- The New England Patriots went back to the central Illinois pipeline, selecting OL Ted Karras (Illinois) and LB/S Kamu Grugier-Hill (E. Illinois) in the 6th round of the NFL draft.
Karras becomes the 2nd Illini player (Ward, 2nd round, Raiders) drafted this year. He was a four year starter at Illinois, and the 7th member of his family to play football in the Big Ten. Karras is the 11th Illini player drafted by the Patriots, and first since Michael Buchanan in 2013.
Grugier-Hill becomes the 2nd Eastern Illinois player ever drafted by the Patriots. He'll join former teammate Jimmy Garoppolo in Foxborough.
