Some Urbana Residents Want a Resolution Passed in Opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline

Urbana, IL - A group of Urbana residents are urging the Mayor of Urbana, Laurel Prussing and the City Council of the City of Urbana against a cross country pipeline.  More specifically, they want then to oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline.  This would be similar to a resolution passed by the City of Minneapolis.

This action in Urbana is associated with a national day of action against the Dakota Access Pipeline on Tuesday, September 13. They went to the city council on Monday September 12th, because that's when the Urbana City Council meets.

It began with a rally, #NoDAPL protesters greeted Council members and others on their way into the meeting. They then presented a MoveOn petition urging Mayor Prussing and Council members to support a resolution against the pipeline.
On Friday, the Obama Administration announced a halt to construction on part of the pipeline, pending further environmental review.
