Champaign- The Champaign Unit 4 Board of Education has approved a two year contract with the Champaign Federation of Teachers at a special meeting Thursday.

This comes after months of bargaining between the union and the board. The two sides reached a tentative agreement on September 21, with the CFT membership ratifying the agreement September 28.

"We value our educators tremendously and are pleased to have a fair contract in place." said Board of Education President Chris Kloeppel. "We appreciate the hard work of the CFT negotiating team as they advocated fore their membership in this process. This contract is a result of give and take on both sides, always with the best interest of our students in mind."

The new contract language includes provisions for contributions toward health insurance premiums, stipends for licensed clinical social workers, addition of a middle school softball differential, after school clubs for elementary and middle school students, salary increases as well as a variety of other items.

Once the contract is amended it will be on the District website.

Members of CFT had been working without a contract since June 30th.
