Local charity providing help to hearing impaired 5-year-old

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - A five-year-old Illiopolis boy may soon be able to hear clearly thanks to one local charitable organization.

Bethel #49 Decatur, Illinois Job's Daughters International officials say a Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund award will be presented to the child on October 2.  The award will be used to purchase a device to help with hearing and communication, especially in sports and classroom settings.

The HIKE Fund is a not-for-profit charity supported by money raised by Job's Daughters International.  More than 2,500 grants totaling more than $5 million have been distributed to hearing impaired children since the charity's inception.
