DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department has announced the results of two roadside safety checks that took place in September.

Decatur police say the checks happened on East Lake Shore Drive and East Pershing Road, resulting in two DUI arrests, five seat belt violations, two child seat violations, 42 insurance violations, and the discovery of six suspended or revoked drivers.

Authorities say the checks aim to remove impaired drivers from the road.  Roadside safety checks are paid for through a U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grant.
