Danville police investigating October 3 fatal crash

DANVILLE - The Danville Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash on October 3 that resulted in the death of a teenage girl.

Danville police say the crash happened near Griggs and Beard Streets at about 8:15 p.m.  According to the preliminary investigation, officers responding to the scene reported finding a car that had struck an unoccupied building.  Police also say the driver was found in the vehicle, while three passengers were outside the car.

Authorities say all individuals involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.  Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson says the driver was identified as D'nija Parker, 16.  Two of the passengers were treated and released, with the third being taken to a Champaign hospital for further treatment.

This crash is still under investigation.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
