Effingham police investigating October 3 crash that injured 7-year-old

EFFINGHAM - The Effingham Police Department is investigating an October 3 pedestrian versus vehicle crash that left a seven-year-old girl injured.

Police say the incident happened south of the intersection of South Fifth Street and the CSX Railroad Crossing at about 5:26 p.m.  According to the preliminary investigation into the crash, a seven-year-old got out of a parked vehicle and ran across the street and into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Authorities say the child was struck and injured, and was taken to a local hospital via ambulance.

Effingham police say no citations have been issued at this time, and the crash is still under investigation.
