Report: 18-Year-Old Shot on W. King Street in Decatur


UPDATE: A man was listed as the victim of an attempted murder in the Decatur Police Department's daily bulletin Wednesday morning.

18-year-old Shawnquavies L. Maclin is victim named in the report.  Though Decatur Police would not immediately confirm the connection to a reported shooting Tuesday night, the report indicated the incident involving Maclin happened within the same minute, and at the same location, of a shooting on West King Street.

That report came in just after 8pm when police confirmed only that an 18-year-old arrived at Decatur Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound.

The police bulletin consists of reports made to the department over a period of time, and do not reflect details or results of investigations.


DECATUR -- More details are emerging after a man was apparently shot Tuesday night in Decatur.

Decatur police officers responded to Decatur Memorial Hospital just after 8pm to find and 18-year-old Decatur man arriving with a gunshot wound.

Initial reports indicate that the shooting took place in the 500 Block of West King Street and the victim was driven to the hospital by a relative.

According to a press release early Wednesday morning, the man was undergoing surgery and was listed in critical condition. Patrol Officers and Detectives conducted interviews, processed the crime scene and are executing a search warrant on a vehicle.
