Crash on I-72 near IL-4 kills 66-year-old woman

SANGAMON COUNTY – A New Berlin woman is dead after her car veered off the road and flipped over.

Illinois State Police were on the scene at around 6 PM on Wednesday, October 5. Troopers say 66-year-old Roberta Wilson, of New Berlin, was driving east on Interstate 72, west of Illinois Route 4, when her Oldsmobile traveled off the right side of the road and overturned. Wilson was ejected from her vehicle.

Authorities arrived, and Wilson was taken to Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash; which ISP District 9 continues to investigate.

At this time, authorities are unsure about what caused Wilson’s vehicle to leave the road.
