Salvation Army Reaping Benefits of Community Food Drive

DECATUR- After nearly 1.4 million pounds of food was donated by the Decatur community in the annual community food drive, one local resource is benefiting from the generous donations.

Saturday morning,  the Salvation Army was already busy with sorting the thousands and thousands of pounds of food for their pantry.

A volunteer said, "four truck loads, semi trucks of food come in. So if you see around here its a lot of food. You always want to be apart of an organization in Decatur or wherever that is doing the most good and the salvation army is literally on the front line."

The first community food drive was held back in 2002 and saw nearly 35,000 pounds of food donated.
