Gibson Area Hospital recognizing Depression Awareness Month in Silver Series

Posted: Updated:

GIBSON CITY – The upcoming Silver Series offered by Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services will focus on the topic of depression and anxiety, along with a special guest.

October is Depression Awareness Month, so the program will be focusing on how to recognize mental illness and offer guidance to help manage symptoms. Vicki Angstmann, MA, LPC, Primary Therapist, will discuss depression, anxiety and strategies to manage it. Susan Thamm, RN, will be providing free blood pressure checks.

The Silver Series focuses on many topics about senior living associated with physical and emotional health.

Each third Friday of the month highlights new topics from coping with change to memory. The series is presented in a unique format, incorporating both humor and attendee participation.

This month’s program will also feature Daisy, Gibson Area Hospital’s only therapy dog. She will be on hand for a meet-and-greet opportunity. Currently, Daisy spends her time with the patients in the Geriatric Behavioral Services.

Those interested in attending the program can come to the Moyer District Library in Gibson City at 10 AM on October 21. Any questions can be directed to 217-784-4540.

There is no charge for attending the Silver Series.
