Community Enlisted To Help With Police Complaints Group

CHAMPAIGN- Policing the police, a topic trending nationwide. Champaign invited the public out for the first in two open meetings to review the police complaints working group.

After the city council approved the group get started with organizing, the board now has 15 members, 9 are community representatives and 6 are with the city police. Monday night, they held their first meeting gauging complaints and advice. 

Working group member Keith Thomas said, " one of the biggest things that you're going to have is the community come in and be able to sit down and say hey here are some of the experiences i have had some are going to be positive some not so positive, i think we can learn from that dialogue alone."

The next working group will be held Thursday evening at Centennial High school for more information follow the link.
