EFFINGHAM COUNTY – A 35-year-old man from Arcola was injured when he was involved in a crash with two other vehicles.

Illinois State Police say the Arcola man was heading south on Interstate 57 in Effingham County when he failed to brake and hit another car in its rear end. The man’s vehicle was then unable to move, causing another vehicle to swerve to avoid it. That third vehicle was unable to avoid hitting the first car, swerved off the roadway to the right, jack knifed and came to a rest on the west side of the roadway.

This all happened just before 5 AM on Wednesday, October 13.

According to the crash report, there were no serious injuries, and the first driver was the only one to be taken to the hospital. He was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
