ARGENTA -- Call them the surprise of the year, an upstart, an obstacle demolisher -- the Argenta-Oreana Bombers are 7-0 for the first time in school history, and they're showing no signs of slowing down.

After a 2-7 mark in 2015 and after they lost breakout star Makhi Stanley to an ankle injury early on this year, head coach Chad Eisenmenger's squad is playing with house money and it shows. Their closest margin of victory was a 34-24 win against Central A&M in Week 2, and it's one of the loosest groups of guys you'll see on the field.

The Bombers will welcome another record-setting program to Argenta on Friday: the 6-1 LSA Lions, who are off to their best start in program history as well. Led by heady quarterback Briley Housh and longtime Central Illinois coach Craig Bundy, the Lions have been equally stunning this season, with only a close 8-6 loss to defending 1A state champion Arcola in the way of an unblemished start.

Kickoff for the two programs' Week 8 showdown in Argenta is scheduled for 7 p.m. Argenta has locked up at least a share of the Little Okaw Valley Northwest title, but LSA still could finish in a tie for first at 4-1 in league play. Though each team has two games remaining, A-O (Cumberland) and LSA (Palestine) each play non-conference teams in Week 9.
