Springfield Police Seeing Rise in Thefts in From Local Gyms

Posted:

SPRINGFIELD -- Police in Springfield are tracking a series of thefts happening at a number of workout locations in Springfield.

In the past week, there have been several reports of items being stolen from gym locker rooms and from cars parked outside them. Police did not name any specific locations for these thefts, but said many of them are similar in what was stolen.

In some cases, the thieves are taking credit cards out of wallets, and charging thousands of dollars worth of purchases to the unsuspecting victim's account.

Police remind people to secure any valuables you bring to the gym, and never leave anything important in plain view of someone walking by your car.

Police are still searching for a suspect or suspects. Tips about these crimes can be called into (217) 788-8427.
