Village of Sherman Receives ITEP Grant this Week

Sherman - State dollars may be tight these days, but the villages of Sherman and Williamsville were on the receiving end of grant money this week.

Up to $2M dollars will be available to use through an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program grant.

It'll help build a bicycle path between the two villages estimated at about 4.4 miles.

Sherman's mayor says this will be another positive attribute in both communities, one that could be attractive to potential families looking to move to the area.

"It's another amenity that the village of Sherman can add to another reason why people should locate to this area.  All of these different amenities that will add to reasons why you should solidify your decision," said mayor Trevor Clatfelter.

Mayor Clatfelter also said he's hopeful that construction could start as early as next year on the project.
