Route 29 Expansion Completed This Week

Edinburg - A longtime highway project in Christian County is now complete as crews wrapped up the 4-lane expansion on Route 29, that now goes around Edinburg, this week.

Project leaders say that the 23 year-long efforts will mean a quicker commute around town, but more importantly, a safer highway to travel on, as well as a potential new way to draw in new businesses.

"The road was started, with four lanes, because of so many accidents.  We now have a much safer highway to commute on.  We have a brand new Ayerco, not gas station, but truck stop out there that's going to be more revenue and more jobs for Edinburg," said Project 29 co-coordinator Mike Bell.

Bell also said that he's hopeful that more businesses will consider the area in the future as well.
