Full “Hunter’s” Moon will occur Saturday night

Posted: Updated:

We will see a full moon shine down across central Illinois this weekend. The full “Hunter’s” moon will peak at 11:23 PM CDT on Saturday, October 15.

The full “Hunter’s” moon gets its name by referring to the time of year when deer and other game are at their biggest and hunters begin stocking their food supply for the winter.

Not only will it be a full moon but it will also be a full “super moon”. This is because the moon will be in perigee, which means that it will be closest to the earth during its 27-day lunar orbit, which makes it appear a little bigger.
