Project AVA and Northeast Community Fund partnering for project

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – Thanks to a partnership between the Northeast Community Fund and project AVA, children in Decatur are in for a fall treat.

The organizations will be providing a free haircut as part of project: A Cut Above the Rest. It is one of project AVA’s “Heartstring” projects, which are made to project AVA in honor of Joyce Haws. Haws passed away in 2016 at the age of 87 and was known as “a cut above the rest” for her passionate volunteering.

This most recent “Heartstring” project aims to give children a boost of self-confidence by offering free haircuts to prepare them for success both academically and socially.

Free haircuts will be offered on Saturday, October 22, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM in the basement of Central Christian Church on William Street in Decatur. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Haircuts will be given on a first come, first serve basis as time allows.

Volunteers will also be providing children and parents with fun fall treats.

More help from area stylists is always appreciated, so anyone interested in participating should contact project AVA at
